Learning to knit after crochet

Sooo....I'm learning to knit after having crocheted for YEARS. I'm struggling, I'll be honest. There are so many methods, like Continental, English, and Portuguese knitting (I'm sure I forgot a few), and various ways to hold your hands, and my biggest problem; knitting needles don't have hooks! It's all rather overwhelming. I've watched countless YouTube videos and looked at written instructions, but still my hands are awkward and clumsy, and my tension is all over the place. My current project is a washcloth. It's not pretty.

Suggestions anyone? Is there a particular knitting style/method you preferred after having been a long-time crocheter?
